Leeds United will swoop for Rangers star Ryan Kent if they fail in their attempt to sign Man United winger Daniel James, according to the Scottish Sun.
Earlier this week, we speculated that Leeds’ alleged pursuit of James on loan could have an impact on their interest in Kent.
The Wales international started United’s first game of the season against Crystal Palace but was hooked at half time before being left out of the squad for their trip to Brighton on Saturday afternoon.
Now, the Scottish Sun is claiming that James is Leeds’ priority target as the transfer window enters its final week.
However, United are allegedly reluctant to let go of James unless they recruit another winger themselves and should they reject the Whites’ approach, Marcelo Bielsa is primed to turn to Kent to fill the gap in his squad.
Rangers reportedly rejected an initial offer of around £10m from Leeds earlier this summer and it’s claimed they would demand over £15m to let him go.

As the transfer window enters its final week, clubs will begin to get desperate to add the finishing touches to their squads.
Leeds have already spent heavily this summer but it’s been apparent that they’ve wanted a new winger for some time now.
James is the lower risk option, especially if they can secure a loan deal, given that he is a full international with Premier League experience.
Kent is playing the best football of his career right now, though, and it’s easy to see why Bielsa would be interested.
Yet, it would surely take a truly massive bid for Rangers to even consider selling at this stage in the window. Kent has been Steven Gerrard’s best player over the first two months of the season and would be close to impossible to replace at short notice.
