Rangers fans are starting to get a bit twitchy with over two weeks of transfer speculation linking Lawrence Shankland and only Fabio Silva signed.
The Hearts skipper would be a welcome addition to Rangers manager Philippe Clement’s squad but, as yet, there has been no movement or work of an official bid.
It’s the same for other areas of the park, however, if Rangers are to bring Lawrence Shankland to his spiritual home of Ibrox, something will have to give, as explained by Dean Jones to GiveMeSport.

Rangers have hurdle to overcome in Lawrence Shankland pursuit
There are two schools of thought regarding the 28-year old striker.
One. That he is capable of being the difference in the title race and every effort should be made to sign him.
And.
Two. Rangers should be looking for better than Lawrence Shankland and longer term.
Both arguments are accurate and built on justifiable foundations.
Few players guarantee goals but, in Scotland, Shankland would for Rangers.
His record in Edinburgh derbies or against Rangers and Celtic suggests that the quality of opposition isn’t an issue, he doesn’t need five chances to score one.
It is also true that the reported fee or more than £3m is also a lot of money for a domestic player with no sell on value, especially one approaching the point of no return on his contract – even if a new one has been offered.
Speaking to GMS, transfer journalist Jones has a theory as to why nothing has happened:
“Let’s use Shankland as an example of a player Rangers are looking at. Undoubtedly, there is a level of interest there, and they like him.
“But, speaking to contacts at Rangers, they say that the problem is that players have to go out.
“Dessers is a player that they’re open-minded about whether offers come in for him. I think that will be key to those targets being landed.”

If you gave Rangers the summer again, I’d imagine that they would rather spend the £4m that went on Cyriel Dessers on Lawrence Shankland.
It makes sense in that it would be one in, one out and, if Nils Koppen can get decent money for Dessers, there would be no better player to reallocate it to.
The consensus among Rangers fans seems to be that it is not the time to just accept mediocrity and that the title is there for the taking if the right reinforcements are made now.
Come the summer, it might be too late.
