Hearts claim there is “no more transfer business anticipated” at Tynecastle, effectively putting an end to those Rangers links to Lawrence Shankland.

The Edinburgh club took to X to provide a transfer window round-up to supporters where they suggested that Hearts’ business is done for the evening.

The comments will come as a blow to Rangers fans, many of whom are still hoping that the club will launch an 11th hour bid for Lawrence Shankland on deadline day.

Reports had suggested that the Scotland international had missed a deadline set by Hearts to sign a new contract, thus adding fuel to the Rangers fire.

Hearts send firm Rangers transfer message

Whilst the comment is a little open-ended, it’s a firm message that Hearts do not expect any more business to be conducted at Tynecastle as things stand.

Rangers meanwhile continue to be on the hunt for reinforcements with Colombian winger Oscar Cortes the closest deal to completion.

But it’s the striker berth which is most anticipated from Rangers fans who identified the area as a potentially title-defining problem on heading into the window.

Whilst Rangers remain tight-lipped, the chances of moving for a number nine decrease as every minute ticks down on deadline day.

Last chance for Lawrence Shankland to Ibrox?

Lawrence Shankland has been on astonishing form for Hearts this season, netting 19 goals in all competitions for the club and leading the Premiership scoring charts (14).

A boyhood bluenose, you get the feeling that if the 28-year-old Scotland international was to play for Rangers, then he’d need to move to Ibrox in this window.

With 18 months remaining on his current deal, Hearts are at the optimum moment to sell the striker whilst Rangers’ need is at its highest.

Come the summer, perhaps players more in-line with the club’s player trading model become available and Rangers move onto other targets.

It puts Lawrence Shankland in something of a personal dilemma, but as things stand it looks like he’s going to be staying at Hearts.
