Rangers hero and current Kilmarnock club captain, Kris Boyd, has had his say on Rangers’ transfer dealings.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he revealed that he thinks the reported deal for Jermain Defoe is a ‘blockbuster’ transfer.

While acknowledging that Defoe is short of game time, Boyd still believes he can deliver.
“I’ve got a feeling that this one will work out. There’s one thing with goal scorers, you can’t keep them down.”
The veteran, then went on to compare the move for Defoe with a Celtic transfer from 2010.
“Once Jermaine Defoe gets a few name under his belt, we might see someone, potentially, who could have the same impact on Scottish football as what Robbie Keane did”, he explained.

Certainly an interesting comparison.
Keane certainly scored goals during his brief loan stint at Parkhead. He netted 12 times in 16 league appearances for the Hoops.
However, his impact wasn’t tangible in terms of silverware. Ultimately, Rangers beat Celtic to the league title that year.
Therefore, Gers fans will hope Boyd isn’t entirely right here. Sure, they want Defoe to score goals. Yet, the important thing, is that unlike Keane’s, they must bring silverware to the club.
Of course, this talk is still premature, as the deal for the England international, is yet to be finalised.
