Rangers fans’ transfer celebrations may have to be put on hold, for now, at least.
That’s because Bournemouth manager, Eddie Howe, told the media this morning that the reported deal that would see Jermain Defoe leave Dean Court for Ibrox, has not yet been finalised.
The Cherries boss was speaking ahead of his side’s weekend fixture against Brighton.
Furthermore, he said it would it would be a matter of days, rather than hours, before confirmation would materialise.
“Any deal that does get agreed will be in the player’s best interests and what the player wants to pursue”, he added.
A little disappointing, as there is so much anticipation concerning this deal.
Social media reflected near unanimous approval of the move. It’s still possible that it could hit a snag and fall at the final hurdle.
However, given the praise Howe had for his player’s professionalism, it’s unlikely Defoe would fail a medical.
Patience is still needed while the finer details of this high profile move are finalised, though.
Rangers will hope to get Defoe over the line in time for him to join up with the rest of the squad in Tenerife, next week.
