Yesterday afternoon, a Sky Sports report claimed Jermain Defoe has agreed to join Rangers.
It looks set to be an 18-month loan deal. Parent club, Bournemouth, will have two chances to recall the forward, in summer 2019 or January 2020.

Although the signing is yet to be confirmed, it looks to be a major coup for the Gers. As we reviewed yesterday, Defoe’s numbers stack up extremely well.
He has proven himself a top goalscorer over a 20-year professional career.

Therefore, when the Sky Sports Premier League Twitter account asked their nearly 4 million followers a simple question, ‘will he be a hit or a miss?’, the response was near unanimous.
The fans think he will tear it up in Scotland.

Additionally, others took the question as an opportunity to bash the standard of the SPL.

It certainly won’t be that easy.
One other thing is for sure though, there aren’t too many who expect this guy to fail. He has over 200 career league goals and has done it wherever he has gone.
Rangers have moved quickly on this one and might just have got themselves the perfect short-term fix.
The anticipation now builds towards Defoe’s first chance to pull on the famous jersey, away at Cowdenbeath, on 18th January.
