Kilmarnock name price for attacker who destroyed Celtic as Rangers assess wide options

Kilmarnock have named their price for slayer of Celtic Danny Armstrong as Rangers ready a busy January transfer window.

The creative winger, 26, was the best player on the park as Kilmarnock defeated Celtic 2-1 on Scottish Premiership duties earlier in December.

That stunning Rugby Park performance was a microcosm of Danny Armstrong’s season at Kilmarnock too, with the winger emerging as Derek McInnes’ chief attacking threat.

Now, Killie have apparently named their price for the winger with the likes of Scottish Premiership rivals Hearts and MLS club Charlotte FC linked to the player.

A report in TEAMtalk claims that Kilmarnock would be willing to accept a £600k bid for Danny Armstrong should clubs come knocking this January.

The report claims that clubs in the Scottish Premiership, English Championship, and MLS are all interested in Armstrong’s services heading into the January window.

With the winger out of contract in the summer of 2025, given he has 18 months left on a deal this could be the optimum moment for Kilmarnock to cash in.

Whilst there has been no official link to Rangers, the situation surrounding Danny Armstrong is interesting to consider for a couple of reasons.

Do Rangers need homegrown wide options?

Coming through at Hamilton Academicals before a move to Wolves, Danny Armstrong would represent a homegrown squad option at Rangers.

Rangers too were said to be light in the wide areas heading into this season following the Ibrox exits of Ryan Kent and Fashion Sakala.

However, with Abdallah Sima in red hot form and the likes of Rabbi Matondo and Scott Wright returning to the side suddenly the club have options.

The emergence of young Ross McCausland this season has also cast doubts as to whether or not Rangers need to invest in this area of the park as a matter of priority.

On top of this, should Hearts hope to recognise their interest in Danny Armstrong then they could well do with some funds to help close any deal.

With Lawrence Shankland at the centre of Rangers transfer discussions, it’s a situation the Ibrox support and perhaps Philippe Clement will have one eye on.
