Rangers have managed to fend off interest from the likes of Everton and Newcastle United by keeping winger Ross McCausland.
Rangers fans would love to see more players emerge from the development ranks into the first team.
That hasn’t really been Rangers’ forte in recent years with Nathan Patterson the only major success story.
Another one appears to be emerging though with Ross McCausland now making a big impact under Philippe Clement.
The former Linfield talent has provided a real spark down the right flank and Rangers have now avoided a Premier League raid.
Newcastle United miss out as Rangers secure Ross McCausland future
Rangers announced on Tuesday night that winger McCausland has now signed a new long-term contract to stay at Ibrox.
McCausland’s previous deal was due to expire at the end of the season, which left Rangers open to losing him.
This new deal now prevents a bargain departure and seemingly leaves a few Premier League clubs disappointed.
TEAMtalk now report that Brighton and Hove Albion, Brentford, Crystal Palace, Everton and Newcastle United were all showing an interest in signing McCausland.

Serie A sides Bologna and Genoa were also looking at McCausland in the hope of prising him away from Ibrox.
A Premier League move may have sounded appealing, but teams like Newcastle were probably viewing McCausland as a development player rather than a first-team talent.
McCausland is better off staying at Rangers, in that case.
McCausland is not only playing first-team football at Rangers but is also able to test himself in the Europa League.
That kind of experience is invaluable at this stage in McCausland’s career and will do much more for his development than playing in a Premier League development side.
We are delighted to see McCausland stay at Ibrox for the foreseeable future, but Premier League interest will only rise if he continues to shine – so this new deal is immeasurably important.
