Andrew Cavenagh is playing a very hands-on role at Rangers ahead of the summer transfer window.

He has been making regular visits to Ibrox and has been in touch with Danny Rohl to discuss the happenings at the club.

The players and the manager are currently in Spain to enjoy warm-weather training, but Rohl will be meeting the Gers hierarchy to discuss transfer plans.

Andrew Cavenagh playing active role in Rangers’ transfer business

Daily Record journalist Keith Jackson has claimed that people at Rangers have told him the hands-on role Cavenagh is playing with regard to the transfer dealings.

The Chairman has made it a point to interact with fans during home and away games and even connected with a supporters’ club in the United States.

He is also keeping close tabs on the money that is being spent and the players who will be signed in the coming months by the Ibrox outfit.

In Jackson’s view, it could be viewed as a bad thing as well, given his limited footballing scope, but he has been speaking to the right people for their insights.

He said on Hotline Live: “One or two things I’ve heard from behind the scenes suggest very strongly that Andrew Cavenagh is real hands-on in terms of the business that’s going to get done this summer in the transfer market.

“Some might think that’s a good thing.

“Some might think it’s a bad thing because he doesn’t have a lot of football (knowledge), but he’s speaking to all the right people.”

Which players is Danny Rohl prioritising this summer?

Rohl is keen on strengthening the backline this summer as a number of players in defence will be returning to their parent clubs.

Dundee centre-back Luke Graham is the transfer priority, and it will not come as a surprise if that deal is agreed before the window even opens.

In recent days, Andy Robertson has emerged as a Rangers target, but Tottenham and Celtic are also keen on signing the outgoing Liverpool defender.

In attack, Sheffield United striker Tyrese Campbell is admired by Rohl, but no steps have been taken towards signing him yet.
