There is unlikely to be any major outgoings at Rangers on deadline day in a major boost to the club’s chances, according to a leading Scottish journalist.
The Athletic’s Rangers correspondent Jordan Campbell took to Twitter to detail the club’s transfer plans heading into the final day of the window and claimed the club will now “hold on” to their top players.
This comes amid several high-profile links to some of the most highly-rated assets in the Gers squad as Campbell gives an update on five players specifically.
“A couple of loans out the way will happen at Ibrox today but it’s looking like Rangers will hold on to their top players,” said Campbell [Twitter].
“Morelos & Barisic both staying. Dan James to Leeds has killed prospect of Kent, while Kamara is expected to extend & Patterson to Everton won’t happen now.”
Alfredo Morelos was routinely linked to Porto throughout the window and his presence at Rangers for another season is a sizeable boost.
Most recently, there were growing fears regarding Borna Barisic after his reaction to the club’s 1-0 win over Celtic at the weekend.
A visibly emotional Barisic had been kissing the ground and had to be consoled by his teammates after the game but one of the player’s family members has rejected the notion he’s exit bound.

Glen Kamara’s future has been mused over repeatedly this window but Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has previously confirmed a “strong” offer was on the table for the player.
If Kamara is set to sign a new deal this deadline day it will be sizeable boost to Rangers as they look to protect one of their key assets heading into the rest of the season.
As for Nathan Patterson, talk of an £8m Everton bid has been confirmed by a leading club insider but according to reports, the Goodison Park club are turning their attention elsewhere.
