The Sun journalist Alan Nixon has delivered an apparent major boost for Rangers amid continuing Leeds United links to Ryan Kent.

Leeds saw a bid for Kent rejected last summer that was reportedly in the region of £10m [BBC Sport].

They didn’t return with an improved bid at the time but Marcelo Bielsa is said to remain an admirer and speculation has continued.

For example, GiveMeSport reported earlier this month that the Whites were interested in a double swoop for Kent and his teammate Glen Kamara.

However, Nixon can’t see the winger swapping Ibrox for Elland Road anytime soon.

When asked by a Leeds fan on Twitter if his club had recently been in touch with Rangers regarding a transfer, he replied: “It would still be in (£)15m range to get him…so I doubt that just now.”

Journalist appears to deliver major Rangers boost

Kent hasn’t been at his best during the opening weeks of the season but a glance at his stats from 2020/21 show just how important he is for this Rangers team.

The former Liverpool starlet scored 13 goals and notched 15 assists, shining in both domestic and European competition.

If the Gers could hold onto him until January at the very least before cashing in, it would greatly improve their chances of successfully defending the Premiership title.

With the 24-year-old under contract until the summer of 2023, the Light Blues remain in a relatively strong position.

One big name may leave Ibrox before the end of the window, though, and a big European club are reportedly considering a swoop for a different Rangers star.
