Fenerbahce are considering a transfer swoop for Rangers star Alfredo Morelos, according to Takvim via the Scottish Sun [16/8 12:29].

Morelos is contracted to Rangers until 2023 but, as usual, there has been plenty of speculation about his future in the summer window.

The speculation has mainly centred around alleged interest from Porto as the Portuguese giants look to replace former talisman Moussa Marega [A Bola].

However, in recent weeks, multiple reports have suggested that the chances of a move to the Estadio do Dragao are fading [O Jogo via Sport Witness].

Rangers fans still have a fortnight to get through before it’s confirmed that El Bufalo will be staying in Glasgow for a while longer, though, and now, another big European club are reportedly showing interest.

Takvim reports via the Scottish Sun, that Fenerbahce, who were previously linked with the Colombia international, are ‘considering making a move’.

It’s suggested that they are in the market for a new forward and Morelos is one of three main targets, along with RB Leipzig stars Alexander Sorloth and Hwang Hee-chan.

The report asserts that Morelos’ asking price is around £12m but Gers managing director Stewart Robertson previously suggested that the club would look for £20m.

Previous links to Fenerbahce – who finished third in the Super Lig last season and have a Europa League playoff coming up this week – came to nothing and Bears will hope for more of the same this time around.

There has been a lot of speculation about the Light Blues being more likely to sell players after failing to qualify for the Champions League, but should Morelos go, it’s going to prove close to impossible to replace him.

Steven Gerrard already has Kemar Roofe, Cedric Itten, Fashion Sakala and Jermain Defoe at his disposal but none of those players lead the line with the same authority, with El Bufalo still the club’s go-to goalscorer both in the Premiership and in Europe.

A high-profile exit could free up funds for a signing or two, though, and the door is reportedly still open for Rangers to snap up a 28-year-old assist-king
