Heerenveen sporting director Ferry de Haan has provided an update on reported Rangers target Joey Veerman after Feyenoord proposed a player plus cash deal.
The Gers have been linked with Veerman – who is contracted to the Eredivisie club until 2024 – for some time, and the Glasgow Times reported that they could be prepared to splash up to £7m on the 22-year-old.

However, they aren’t the only club with interest.
Hellas Verona have reportedly pulled out of the race after being put off by Heerenveen’s asking price, but Dutch giants Feyenoord are still keen.
Veerman recently stated that he would be ‘a very happy man’ if he could move to De Kuip and Feyenoord have since put forward a player plus cash proposal.
In a possible boost for Rangers, though, de Haan says it’s not something Heerenveen are considering.
“An exchange deal is not an option,” he said [Scottish Sun]. “The money is always nice, but the most important thing is if a very good player leaves, you also want a very good player back.”
“There is not a player in the position for which we are looking for – no one who we think is complementary to what we already have.
“The striker position is the position that we have actually said from day one…we have to look at that. And we do not see a suitable goal-getter at Feyenoord.”

Feyenoord’s attempt to go down the cash plus player route suggests they may not have the funds to complete a traditional deal for Veerman and de Haan has made it very clear here that there’s currently no one of interest in Arne Slot’s squad.
This could leave things open for the Gers if they were prepared to stump up some serious cash or offer up one of their own attackers.
James Bisgrove outstanding work as commercial and marketing director has seen the club strike a number of new partnerships in recent times and the return of fans will bring a long-awaited boost in terms of matchday revenue.
However, it remains to be seen whether or not the club would part with £7m-£8m without first making a significant player sale.
Meanwhile, a midfielder who spent last season at Rangers could be on his way to La Liga.
