Jesse Lingard has finally joined a new club after being offered to Rangers following the January transfer window.

The 33-year-old was a free agent for the last few months after his stint at South Korean club FC Seoul.

Due to this, his agent was looking at European clubs, with Rangers being given a chance to sign Lingard.

However, the Ibrox outfit showed zero interest in pursuing the former Manchester United attacker’s services.

Jesse Lingard joins Corinthians after Rangers pass up on him

Brazilian outfit Corinthians snapped up the services of Lingard, as they confirmed the deal on Friday afternoon.

TEAMtalk reported that he would be moving to Remo, also in Brazil, but he has opted to join the seven-time Brasileiro winners.

Along with Rangers, Celtic were also offered Lingard’s services, along with Burnley, Coventry City, Middlesbrough and Ipswich Town.

However, none of the clubs showed a keenness on signing him, and even West Ham, who held talks with him, opted against the deal.

Due to this, he moved to Corinthians, where he will be wearing the number 77 jersey.

Which positions will Rangers look to strengthen this summer?

Despite it being March, the Gers have already begun plans for the summer transfer window.

A new midfielder is understood to be on the radar, potentially one who can thrive in the final third and prove to be a creative and goal-scoring threat.

Rangers have identified David Watson as a target, who is currently on the books at Kilmarnock.

They will also be looking to strengthen their backline, signing a right-back and a centre-back.

Max Aarons joined on loan in the summer but has struggled in Scotland and is not expected to be retained.

James Tavernier could also leave Ibrox once his deal runs out, leaving the Gers with Dujon Sterling as the only senior right-back.

Centrally, Derek Cornelius and Nasser Djiga are also on loan and have not secured a regular starting berth for different reasons.
