Jens Hjerto-Dahl is a priority target for both Rangers and Cardiff City, with Tromso holding all the cards currently.
They want the two clubs to battle it out and potentially spark a bidding war to make the most from the 20-year-old’s sale.
Rangers are very keen on signing Hjerto-Dahl along with Vanja Dragojevic, making it four new midfield additions for the summer.
However, they are not currently in pole position to sign the Tromso ace, but things could change in the coming days.
What are your expectations from Jens Hjerto-Dahl at Rangers?
Rangers appear to be closing in on his signing!
Jorgen Vik expects Jens Hjerto-Dahl to stay for at least a few more days
Tromso boss Jorgen Vik has gone on record to state that the club have managed to retain the midfielder’s services despite a lot of speculation.
He has also stated that he expects the 20-year-old to be a part of the UEFA Europa League qualifier on Thursday next week.
That means that Hjerto-Dahl, at least until late next week, is not expected to be jetting out to complete a transfer.
What have YOU made of Andrew Cavenagh’s time as Chairman? 🤔
He is delivering on his promises…
This could be beneficial for Rangers, as Cardiff are leading the chase, and it gives them time to enter negotiations and hopefully convince the midfielder to snub a move to the Championship club.
Vik said: “Despite a lot of speculation, we have retained the duo Tobias Guddal and Jens Hjerto-Dahl.
“The duo will probably be in action when TIL starts qualifying for the Europa League on Thursday.”

What Rangers need to do in order to sign Hjerto-Dahl
While both Rangers and Cardiff have made bids for Hjerto-Dahl, the latter’s offer was higher.
Tromso rejected both, but they have entered into advanced negotiations with Cardiff.
The Light Blues know that the player fancies a move to Ibrox, but is also not opposed to plying his trade in the English Championship.
What is your reaction to the new third kit?
It's fair to say a lot of Rangers fans have hated it…
Rangers need to speak to Hjerto-Dahl’s representatives and quickly look to agree personal terms with him.
This would then see him putting pressure on Tromso to allow him to leave, and the Gers can then sign him for a lower transfer fee.
Only time will tell if they can successfully beat Cardiff and secure the midfielder’s services.
