Rangers target James Penrice has been spotted in Glasgow on Friday, along with former Light Blues midfielder Andy Halliday.
Penrice is being considered by Rangers, and there was a lot of talk about his potential move to Ibrox when Danny Rohl was still at the helm.
Derek McInnes remains keen on signing new defenders and bringing in a left-back to offer cover and competition for Tuur Rommers, which is very much on the cards.
Is James Penrice a good signing for Rangers? 🤔
James Penrice spotted with Andy Halliday at Player 2 Pro Academy
Let’s Talk Rangers shared an image on X which showed Penrice at Player 2 Pro Academy in Glasgow along with Halliday.
The 27-year-old left-back is currently at AEK Athens, where he won the league last season, so there is no real reason for him to be training in Scotland, let alone in Glasgow.
However, there he was, along with Andy as well as Robert Halliday, who is his brother and also the founder of Player 2 Pro Academy.
Which area should Rangers prioritise on strengthening this summer? 🤔
Andrew Cavenagh has made some bold promises!
Robert was also a coach at the Rangers academy, playing a role with the charity foundation as well.
What’s worth noting here is that where Penrice was spotted is not too far away from Ibrox either.
The training facility is a little over 4 miles away from the home of the Light Blues.
Are Rangers looking to sign Penrice imminently?
There were players Rohl wanted that the club considered, and with him now gone, the transfer strategy might change a bit.
Rangers News understands that the German was on board with the Penrice deal, but it remains to be seen what McInnes’ stance is on the left-back.
As things stand, the Gers are not actively in talks with the 27-year-old or his club, but his being in Glasgow could mean that things are in the pipeline.
McInnes undoubtedly will want to speak to players before signing them, and now that he has officially been unveiled and has begun taking training, he can plan for transfers as well.
Penrice would undoubtedly tick a lot of boxes, and the fact that he has been proven in the Scottish Premiership could be what makes the club prioritise a move.
