Rangers are on the verge of a dramatic shake-up in their goalkeeping department as Jack Butland prepares to call time on his stay in Glasgow.
According to transfer expert Pete O’Rourke, the Ibrox hierarchy have officially given the 33-year-old goalkeeper permission to travel south to hold talks and undergo a medical with newly promoted Premier League side Hull City.
This comes after it emerged that Hull City shot-stopper Ivor Pandur is on the verge of joining Rangers in a player-plus-cash deal involving Butland.
O’Rourke disclosed that Pandur has already undergone his medical with the Gers, finishing the procedures from America, where he is participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Croatia.
At the same time, details shared by Sky Sports have laid bare the financials behind a swift double-deal that will see Pandur and Butland move in the opposite directions.

The Gers are prioritising the signing of a new number one…
Butland to join Hull City in £3m deal, Pandur costs £6m
According to Sky Sports, the two transfers are being handled as separate transactions, despite previously being reported as a player-plus-cash swap deal.
Rangers are moving to replace experience with youth, sanctioning Butland’s departure while heavily investing in his successor.
The financial breakdown of the two operations stands as follows:
- Jack Butland: The experienced Englishman is set to complete a £3million switch to the MKM Stadium. He leaves Ibrox having racked up over 150 appearances since arriving in 2023.
- Ivor Pandur: Heading the other way is Hull City’s 26-year-old Croatian star Ivor Pandur in a move worth roughly £6million
Rangers are essentially buying the World Cup goalkeeper for a deal worth up to £9m.
What are your expectations for Ben Godfrey next season?
This is his fourth loan in less than two years…
Who is Ivor Pandur?
Pandur was the absolute bedrock of Hull City’s sensational promotion charge last season.
After joining the Tigers from Fortuna Sittard for £1.5m early in 2024, the 6ft 1in keeper missed just a single Championship fixture last term.
Crucially, he proved his big-game temperament by keeping clean sheets in both legs of the play-off semi-finals and maintaining another shutout in the final to seal Hull City’s place in the Premier League.
Pandur is currently away on international duty with Croatia at the World Cup, but is expected to report straight to Auchenhowie for pre-season once the tournament is finished.

Derek McInnes makes spine call at Rangers
For Derek McInnes, sanctioning the departure of a figure as experienced as Butland represents the first major gamble of his rebuilding phase.
Trading a known quantity for a 26-year-old on the rise is a clear signal that Rangers are looking to build a younger, highly valuable core.
With medical logistics currently being sorted out in Hull for Butland, an official announcement signalling the end of his Ibrox chapter and the dawning of the Pandur era is expected imminently.
