his season, Lawrence Shankland has come to the attention of everyone who watches Scottish football.
He has banged goals in for fun at Ayr United. Almost single-handedly, he’s catapulted The Honest Men to second in the Scottish Championship.
He has an astonishing six braces, two hat-tricks and one four-goal haul so far, in all competitions.

Naturally, this has brought talk of a move away from Somerset Park.
Shankland is a boyhood Gers fan and with Steven Gerrard admittedly in the hunt for a new striker, naturally, two and two have been put together.
The player himself recently admitted that he would relish the chance to play at Ibrox.

But, is he feeling the pressure of that potential move?

The forward has failed to find the net in his last two matches. It’s no coincidence either, that those are two games his team have failed to win.
It could be an indication that the 23-year-old is feeling the pressure of the incessant transfer rumours.
Up until last season, he had failed to score regularly at any of his previous five clubs. Now, he finds himself linked with half of the clubs in the UK.

However, it’s too early to tell for sure.
He went on a three match goalless run in November, before notching seven in his next three. What’s more, he still averages an excellent goal a game in the league.
As the SPL takes its winter break, more eyes than usual will fall upon the weekend’s Scottish Championship fixtures.
With Ayr taking on lowly Falkirk, another chance presents itself for Shankland to prove his goalscoring credentials.
