Rangers enjoyed a busy start to the transfer window, not just signing new players but also being linked with what seemed like a new name every day.
The rumour mill has dried up recently and murmurs on social media weren’t helped when fan media outlets relayed that there was nothing imminent in terms of potential new signings.
Amid the Ibrox redevelopment crisis that has new light at the end of the tunnel, Philippe Clement needs new players and the Rangers squad is currently far from ideal.
There are too many senior players at Rangers who are on decent wages and who the manager will want to move on.

Rangers transfer plans not as bad as first feared
Then there are players like Connor Goldson and James Tavernier who continue to be linked with transfers to Saudi Arabia whose transfer window doesn’t open until the 18th of July.
The manager is happy with the work that has been done so far though:
“We already have done a lot of things compared with other teams, but that was also necessary.
“We had five players leaving the building at the end of their contract, so we didn’t get any money in that way – and we lost five players.”
There has been some good news from a very reliable source though.
The Four Lads Had a Dream blog has provided an update on potential transfer business after Nils Koppen’s plan for the summer was explained:
“Rangers remain active and have several targets in the transfer market.
“Movement is expected both in & out the club.
“Whilst anything may not be ‘imminent’ (as in next few days) more business is expected in the coming weeks.”
Rangers fans need to be patient despite current desperation
The transfer window is still open for nearly seven weeks.
Fans might be apprehensive about the current squad being good enough for the Champions League qualifiers but some perspective is needed.
Rangers went toe to toe with Benfica with an enitire front three missing and Todd Cantwell only just returning to fitness on the bench.
There might be doubts about his future, but Ianis Hagi is also a significant upgrade on any other option Rangers currently have on the right-hand side of the forward line.
A lot of his best performances for the club have also come on the continent.
Oscar Cortes, Todd Cantwell, Ianis Hagi, Danilo, is the sort of attack that can compete in Europe.
One that features Scott Wright, Tom Lawrence and Ross McCausland, probably isn’t.
As the boss says, Rangers have been busier than most, he didn’t cause the problem with the squad, he inherited them, patience is a virture.
