Rangers are set to make Ross McCrorie their second signing of the summer transfer window after Lawrence Shankland.
McCrorie appears all set for a Rangers return as Derek McInnes has played an instrumental role in the pursuit of the 28-year-old.
The Scotland international had another 12 months left on his deal at Bristol City, but he will not be staying there for the last year of his contract and instead will be moving to Ibrox.
What is Ross McCrorie’s best position, according to you?
Rangers are all set to bring him back to Ibrox!
Rangers are set to pay £2m to sign Ross McCrorie
Rangers will be shelling out £2m to secure the services of McCrorie this summer, according to Four Lads Had a Dream.
The Ibrox insider has also backed the move as he believes that the 28-year-old will be bringing much-needed leadership to the dressing room.
The defender was once tipped to be the future Light Blues captain, so he will be ticking a lot of boxes for the owners.
If Lewis Ferguson joins post the World Cup, who should Derek McInnes name the Rangers captain?
This is assuming Nicolas Raskin leaves Rangers…
They wanted Scottish homegrown talent and leaders in the summer transfer window, and in McCrorie, they are getting exactly that.
His versatility is something that has impressed McInnes, as he is capable of playing in multiple positions, including full-back, centre-back, wing-back, as well as central midfield.
Discussing McCrorie, Four Lads’ Steven Clifford wrote on X: “Rangers close in on Ross McCrorie rejoining the club.
“Once tipped as a future Rangers captain, the versatile player brings leadership and grit. The player will sign for around £2m.
“A sensible, solid signing in my honest opinion.”

Is McCrorie good enough to be a starting right-back?
While McCrorie is extremely versatile, his best position is full-back, and he is likely to be signed to provide competition to Dujon Sterling at right-back.
Last season, Danny Rohl alternated between Sterling and James Tavernier, but due to the former’s fitness issues, the latter got more starts than expected.
Unless Sterling miraculously has recovered from his fitness issues and will go through the season injury-free, it does make sense to have someone offering cover and competition.
However, there still remain doubts about McCrorie’s ability to be a starting right-back.
He is a good utility player who could start games during an injury crisis, but the Gers do need somebody like Tuur Rommens on the right-hand side.
