Rangers have reportedly had an opening bid rejected for Egypt and Pyramids FC talent Ibrahim Adel.

The Ibrox side have began to scour the globe far and wide in the hunt of the best young talents with Rangers interest in Adel first mooted last September.

But now reputable sources in Egypt have begun to claim that Rangers are stepping up their interest in the 23-year-old Olympics star.

Ibrahim Adel currently plies his trade in his home country with Pyramids FC and was part of the Egypt U23 side who finished fourth at this summer’s Olympics in Paris.

Here’s everything we know so far.

Rangers have Ibrahim Adel bid turned down

A report in Kora Plus claims that Rangers have had an initial loan-to-buy approach for Ibrahim Adel turned down by Pyramids FC.

The report claims that Pyramids did not agree with the finances involved in Rangers’ opening offer, suggesting that the bid did not represent the attacker’s ’true value’.

It’s said that Ibrahim Adel’s agents are working hard to convince Rangers to submit another transfer bid, but this time one which is a full purchase and not the mooted loan-to-buy.

With finances tight at Rangers this could be a sticking point; the Gers also had a £6m+ loan-to-buy offer for Brazilian talent Kaiky turned down over the weekend.

It’s claimed that Ibrahim Adel has received as number of offers from Danish football in recent seasons but that so far Pyramids have yet to see their asking price met for the player.

The report does not make clear exactly how much Rangers offered for Adel or how much Pyramids would demand for the left-winger.

‘Next Mo Salah’ wanted in Premier League

Ibrahim Adel is amongst the most hyped talents to come out of Egypt since Mo Salah himself.

The Liverpool legend is the country’s greatest ever export and Adel plays a similar role to the inverted right winger, only from the left-hand side of the pitch.

Adel has courted substantial interest in the past, most namely from Premier League giants Chelsea, but so far no club in Europe has put forward a suitable deal to Pyramids FC.

At the time of those links in 2023 – which originated in 90min – Adel was actually dubbed the ‘next Mo Salah’ with Liverpool, Brighton and Newcastle United also mentioned.

Ibrahim Adel has spent his entire career with Egyptian side Pyramids FC, scoring 34 goals and laying on 11 assists in 134 games for the club.

The winger has also been capped six times by the Egyptian national side and is expected to be in the full squad for upcoming AFCON qualifiers with the Cape Verde Islands and Botswana.

Rangers have used the North African market already this summer, with the Gers spending £1.7m to bring Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane to Ibrox from FAR Rabat.

Rangers are also known to be on the hunt for a new left-wing option after Abdallah Sima was sent on loan to Brest in Ligue 1.
