Hibs strike ambitious Premier League loan transfer ahead of the visit of Rangers

Hibs have signed Danish midfielder Emiliano Marcondes from Premier League Bournemouth ahead of the visit of Rangers.

The Edinburgh club have announced the short-term signing of the 28-year-old attacking midfielder, who is more remembered for his time with Brentford as they gained promotion to the Premier League.

Having joined Bournemouth in 2021, Marcondes also helped the Cherries back to the English top flight but spent the first half of last year out on loan at FC Nordsjælland.

The player has only ever made one appearance in the English Premier League, coming off the bench in Bournemouth’s 9-0 defeat to Liverpool last season.

With a foot injury ruling him out for the first half of the campaign at the Vitality, Emiliano Marcondes goes straight into the Hibs squad for the visit of Rangers.

Rangers play one of their two games in hand on Old Firm rivals Celtic with the Scottish Premiership trip to Hibs as they look to lay down their title intentions.

The Ibrox side’s post-winter break has always proven patchy in recent seasons but Philippe Clement is tasked with getting his side over the line in Edinburgh.

Nick Montgomery’s Hibs are sure to prove a stern test of Rangers’ title credentials with Premiership winning sides made with victories at the likes of Easter Road.

The signing of Emiliano Marcondes has obviously turned a few heads but it remains to be seen if the midfielder will be tossed straight into the Hibs squad for the visit of Rangers.

Marcondes isn’t the only new recruit in Leith either, with the Hibees also adding Hertha Berlin winger Myziane Maolida to their ranks ahead of the Rangers game.

Rangers meanwhile continue to hunt for new recruits with only Fabio Silva having joined the Ibrox club this January as things stand.

The £35m Wolves loanee arrives with a big reputation as he looks to take the next step in his career with a six-month stint in Glasgow.

The Gers also look set to add Ivory Coast midfielder Mohamed Diomande in the coming days after reportedly striking a deal with FC Nordsjælland.

Whilst the midfielder looks very unlikely to be involved v Hibs, Rangers will welcome the new midfield transfer addition as they look to secure title number 56.

It all starts with victory over Hibs at Easter Road with this the first of many Premiership hurdles the club will need to clear if they’re to be successful this season.
