‘He’s about to leave’…Agent of £3m Rangers forward drops transfer bombshell

Rangers made a lot of stranger decisions in the transfer market last summer, starting with letting Michael Beale make all the decisions.

Most of the signings he made have failed to live up to the star billing he gave them but it was a player he moved on that could cost Philippe Clement as he looks to rebuild the squad.

Ianis Hagi endured a successful European Championships and impressed fans and pundits alike with his positive approach during games and ability to cause problems despite not being blessed with the sort of pace wingers usually have.

Ianis Hagi’s days at Rangers could be numbered

Unfortunately, it looks like the Romanian playmaker won’t be at Rangers for much longer though with his ever vocal agent, Giovanni Becali, claiming that Hagi might not be back.

The 25-year old is still contracted until 2026 and when he out pen to paper on that deal it seemed like he wanted to stay at Ibrox for the long term:

“The history that this club has pushes you every single day on the pitch and off the pitch to be a better player and a better person.

“I like to think I have left something behind me and I have given really good memories to the fans but I still feel like I haven’t done everything that I want. I still have a lot of things to show and give to this amazing group of people in Rangers as well as the fans, I just can’t wait until I’m back.”

The last 12-months have obviously left a sour taste in Hagi’s mouth though and he continues to be linked with a move to the country of his birth – Turkey.

Becali confirmed that there is plenty of interest in his client:

“Ianis has one year left on his contract with Glasgow Rangers. I don’t know when he will, and if he will show up [for pre-season]. He’s about to leave.

“I’m also hearing left and right, that several teams would like him. Rangers may want to get something back on him. Ianis does not have a small salary with them. We’ll see, it’s time.”

Rangers creativity questions Philippe Clement needs to answer

Including Hagi, that leaves the future of every senior number 10 at Rangers uncertain.

Tom Lawrence has been linked with a move back to England, Todd Cantwell has been another name on the Saudi Arabia hit list and Sam Lammers isn’t even training with the first team – as far as we know.

Bought for £3m, Rangers should expect to turn a profit on a player who has two years left on his current deal – not one as Becali says.

A player who does well in a major tournament should command a decent transfer fee, especially one with the Hagi family name.
