Hateley: Rangers have a problem in the transfer market regarding Morelos

Ibrox legend Mark Hateley has spoken to the Glasgow Evening Times about Alfredo Morelos.
As a six-time Scottish League-winning forward, the 57-year-old knows a thing or two about scoring goals.

Despite Morelos’ poor disciplinary record last season, Hateley is a big fan of El Bufalo.
Yet, he fears it will be tough for the club to keep potential suitors at bay for the duration of the window.
“I’ve watched Steven with Alfredo, he’s all over him.,” Hateley
told the Glasgow Evening Times. “Steven had his own moments as a player and has learned from them, and he’ll know he can’t take all the fire away, but he also knows he has to find a way of channelling in a way that keeps him on the pitch and keeps him effective.
“He’ll score goals, whatever club he’s at. And that is a problem, that he’s in demand and there’s a long way to go until the window closes. Everyone has a number, that’s the way of football the days.
“But the fact there’s still nearly two months to go before the window closes, a lot can happen both ways.”

Verdict

Rangers have done well so far to keep hold of Morelos. Yet, Hateley is right. There are greater tests to come as the summer rumbles on and sizeable bids start to roll in.
If the club is to let go of their volatile 30-goal striker, though, it can’t be at the last minute.
It’s fair enough if they look to cash in, but any move must take place well before the August deadline.
Jermain Defoe can’t be relied upon as the only source of goals up front, so a new talisman would need to be identified and brought in.
