Following on from Jermain Defoe, we assess the last remaining player in the Rangers first team squad, Alfredo Morelos.
If there are two things the Colombian forward showed across the 2018/19, it’s that he is both lethal and naive.

His goalscoring went unparalleled in Scotland.
With 18 league goals, the 22-year-old bagged the inaugural SPL Tartan Ball. He also scored 12 times in other competitions. That left him with a round total of 30, as he became the first Ger to reach that tally since Kris Boyd in his first stint with the club.
Particular highlights included: a League Cup hat-trick at Kilmarnock, a four-goal salvo against the same opposition at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup, a league brace at Pittodrie and a late SPL winner away at St Johnstone.

Unfortunately, it was far from plain sailing, though.
Morelos got himself in trouble time and time again with the officials. He was sent off five times (one rescinded) and picked up a massive 18 cautions over the course of the season.
His dismissals and resulting suspensions rendered him unavailable for important games at various stages of the campaign. The final one, a lash out at Scott Brown during a Parkhead Old Firm, let his teammates and manager down.

He showed a naivety in the face of provocation which often overshadowed his excellence in front of goal. His disciplinary problems also likely cost him a place at the Copa America with Colombia.
Nonetheless, he’s still young and it’s clear the club has a major asset on their hands. The question is, will he stay for another season?

In today’s market, Managing Director, Stewart Robertson, thinks the Gers could get £20 million [Scotsman]. Right now, £15m is probably a more achievable fee. The fact that he’s contracted until 2023, though, means the powers that be at Ibrox hold all the aces.
Ideally, El Bufalo will help deliver 55 in 2020, before the club can cash in on the charismatic front man.
