Premier League outfit Sheffield United are interested in signing Rangers-linked Leicester City defender Harry Souttar.
The Gers were strongly linked with a summer move for the Australian international stopper, 25, who finds himself out of favour at the Championship leaders.
Despite splurging a whopping £15m on the defender only a year ago, Harry Souttar has been unable to break his way into Enzo Maresca’s side this season.
As a result a January exit could beckon with Sheffield United named as a potential destination.
Harry Souttar to Sheffield United?
At least this is according to Sky Sports, who claim that Sheffield United are interested in securing a deal for Harry Souttar before tomorrow’s deadline.
However, the report claims there could be a few “practical issues” surrounding the deal due to the fact Souttar is currently with the Australia squad at the Asia Cup.
That said, the centre-back is said to be very “keen” to make the move because of a lack of opportunities at the King Power Stadium.
The report also claims that Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall and Everton duo Mason Holgate & Ben Godfrey are alternatives for Chris Wilder’s side.
New defender not a Rangers transfer priority
Whilst Rangers were strongly linked with a move for Harry Souttar in the summer, transfer links have not resurfaced this January.
The defender – who is the brother of Ibrox star John – will look to leave Leicester in the hunt for minutes but perhaps they wouldn’t be so forthcoming at Ibrox either.

The Gers are well stocked in the defensive positions as things stand with a combination of Connor Goldson, Leon Balogun, John Souttar, and Ben Davies providing solid protection this season.
Whilst we suspect that might change heading into the summer, for the time being Rangers’ focus appears to be elsewhere in the club’s squad this January.
