If Michael Beale is looking for a new centre-half for Rangers, one who can challenge for a starting slot and not have to worry about negotiating a fee, there are few better available and in our price range than Axel Tuanzebe.

Once tipped as a future captain at Old Trafford having impressed throughout the academy, the 25-year old is now a free agent and looking for a new club and, having been credited with a “strong interest” before, the Gers gaffer should consider an offer.

Walking away from Manchester United is similar to leaving Rangers, the only way is down, with Axel Tuanzebe now training at the rather more humble surroundings of Luton Town, as reported by The Mirror.

Rangers should consider Axel Tuanzebe for key Beale role

Despite not having a club, the former England Under-21 international has been training.

The article claims that the 6ft 1inch tall stopper has been at the FA’s facility at St George’s to keep himself fit and to improve his chances of earning a deal.

Given his background and loan spells at Napoli, Aston Villa – on more than one occasion – and Stoke City, it is a surprise that Luton is his current location.

The Rangers manager has been quite vocal in hinting that he wants more depth at centre-half and despite Sportrac claiming that Axel Tuanzebe’s last wage was £50,000 a week, he will be taking a cut to consider Luton.

More money will have been offered in links with Turkey and Saudi Arabia so it looks as though his head is screwed on.

Rangers might not be in the Premier League but, with European football, the chance to compete for trophies and a similar prestige to Manchester United, Michael Beale could do a lot worse than preparing another of his presentations.
