Speaking on RangersTV after the win over Galatasaray, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard appeared to hint that more transfers could be completed before the window closes.

The Gers defeated the Turkish giants 2-1 at Ibrox on Thursday night to secure their place in the Europa League knockout stages for the third consecutive season.

It was a polished performance from the hosts against strong opposition, showing what the current squad is capable of when things click.

However, Gerrard has made it clear he would like to add further quality and before the game, he admitted that whether or not the club qualified for the group stages could determine their ability to bring in more players [Belfast Telegraph].

Speaking on RangersTV after progression had been secured, the Gers boss hinted new faces could soon arrive.

“It’s very important, European football, but for me, it’s about success in May, that’s the most important thing,” he began. “But, if we keep performing like we did tonight and keep moving this group of players forward and adding the right players to it, maybe we can.”

Gerrard hints at possible new Rangers signings after Galatasaray win – Verdict

The midfield trio of Steven Davis, Scott Arfield and Glen Kamara have shone in recent games and with Ryan Jack returning from injury last night, the Gers don’t look quite as short in that department as they did a few weeks ago.

Yet, in domestic football, Rangers have occasionally lacked bite in the middle of the park and a dynamic box-to-box midfielder who is willing to take a difficult game by the scruff of the neck.

The window may shut in just a few days time, but judging by these comments, Gerrard still thinks he has a chance of bringing in one or two new bodies.

Rangers’ start to the season hasn’t been flawless, but they now have a good platform to push on from both in Europe and in the Premiership and the boost of a couple of strong late signings would surely raise belief levels within a group seeking long-awaited major silverware.
