Kyle Lafferty’s proposed move to Romania is off after the former Rangers striker failed to agree terms with Sepsi.
Romanian outlet ProSport reported earlier this week that the Northern Ireland international would join the Liga I side.

However, the player has confirmed that negotiations have broken down and although another Romanian club were also said to be interested, no formal offer has been received from them.
“In football, details make the difference,” he told ProSport. “We did not agree on some issues and we were forced to decline the offer. I am sorry that I did not reach an agreement, I was ready to come to Romania.”
“I don’t want to reveal the name of the other club, out of respect for them. If it was a concrete offer, we would talk without problems. Sepsi negotiations can be said to be permanently closed.”
“I talked to the people there about the project. About the level at which the club is now, about what investments they want to make and where they want to take it. I can honestly say that I thought it was an ambitious, very interesting project (but) it was not to be. I don’t think they’ll come back with a better proposal. Maybe I will go to Romania, when I can, at least as a tourist.”

Consequently, Lafferty is still very much a free agent, almost a month after he ended his stint at Italian second division club Reggina by mutual consent.
The 33-year-old played 164 times for the Gers and scored 42 goals, winning six major trophies during his first stint between 2008 and 2012 before returning in 2018 for an unsuccessful one-season spell.
Lafferty has also represented Burnley, Palermo, Norwich City and Sarpsborg, amongst others, across a 16-year professional career.
A forward who also left Ibrox in 2019 did find a new club earlier in the week, though, signing for a struggling EFL side following a brief stint in Turkey.
