The Scottish Sun reports that Dundee are set to sign former Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam.
Adam began his senior career at Ibrox, scoring 15 times in 77 appearances for the Gers in all competitions between 2003 and 2009.
He’s since gone on to enjoy an impressive career south of the border, representing Blackpool, Liverpool, Stoke City and most recently, Reading.
However, it appears the free agent is now set for a surprise return to Scotland with a move to Dundee likely to be completed early next week.
The Scottish Sun reports that the 34-year-old hasn’t yet agreed personal terms but that he is willing to take a substantial hit on his usual wages in order to slot into the Dee’s existing structure.
Dundee are preparing for their second consecutive season in the Championship and it’s said that Adam is motivated by a desire to help his boyhood club return to the top-flight.

When it emerged recently that Adam was training with Bolton Wanderers [The Bolton News], it looked highly unlikely that the player would be making a return to Scotland, especially given that he admitted he had had no contact from any Scottish clubs as recently as ten days ago [Glasgow Live].
Yet, it appears things have moved quickly and a deal could completed very soon.
Adam got plenty of Bears talking with a nostalgic social media post about Ibrox earlier this week but if he does seal a move to the second tier, he won’t be making a playing return to the ground any time soon.
After years playing in England, his reported willingness to take a pay cut is admirable, with Championship clubs feeling the pinch amid the global health crisis.
