Reportedly first-choice Rangers defensive target Auston Trusty has taken to Twitter as he gears up to face off against Barcelona with Premier League Arsenal.

The USA international defender, 24, has shared images of himself being put through his paces with the caption “final prep” ahead of the glamour friendly in California.

The clash is set to take place at the SoFi stadium in Los Angeles later this evening (26/07) and having trained with Mikel Arteta’s squad Auston Trusty will be hoping to make his 3rd appearance of pre-season.

So far the high-profile Rangers target has been a substitute in friendly matches against Nurnburg, a 1-1 draw in Germany, and the MLS All-Stars, a 5-0 Gunners victory in Washington D.C.

Whilst the defender never got off the bench in Arsenal’s 2-0 pre-season defeat to Manchester United, Auston Trusty will now be hoping to get some minutes against Xavi’s Barcelona side in the North London club’s biggest pre-season test yet.

Auston Trusty takes to Twitter amid much speculation over his future, with the defender said to be Rangers manager Michael Beale’s first choice as he hunts for a left-sided centre-back.

Having spent last season on loan with Birmingham City, and amid interest from the likes of Ipswich Town, Auston Trusty refused to be drawn on any transfer conversations earlier in the week.

“I’m not necessarily focused on any of that,” said Auston Trusty.

“I’m here now and I take it day by day and I’ll just go to training and do my job, and any opportunity, I’ve got to come here and do my job.

“It’s been a grind, you know? But I think no matter what, as a player, as a person throughout life, you have to back yourself and you have to back to your ability and believe in yourself.

“I did it the entire time, from Philadelphia to Colorado to now. I back myself and I believe in my play, I believe in my abilities and I believe in what I can do in the future.

“It just gets better and better, and you have to get more focused the higher you go. But it’s been awesome and it’s such a blessing. I’m so honored to be in this position.”

Rangers are reportedly closing in on signings number eight and nine this summer in the shape of Jose Cifuentes and Danilo.

As Arsenal defender Auston Trusty takes to Twitter ahead of the clash with Barcelona, there’s plenty of suggestions the centre-back could be number ten for Rangers.
