Rangers would love to sign Arsenal defender Auston Trusty but a potential deal is understood to have stalled.
The Gers have added a couple of defenders this summer even with Michael Beale placing most of his focus on new attackers.
Right back Dujon Sterling has arrived on a free transfer from Chelsea, offering cover and competition for James Tavernier.
Veteran centre back Leon Balogun has also come in, providing experienced depth in light of Leon King’s injury.
Rangers have though been linked with left-footed centre backs as well though, especially with Filip Helander gone.
The Scottish Mail on Sunday (23/07, p95) report that Arsenal defender Trusty is Beale’s preferred option for that role.
However, it’s added that talks to sign Trusty have stalled and it’s now unclear whether Rangers will get a deal done.
The American international is back at Arsenal this summer after an impressive season on loan at Birmingham City.
First-team action at Arsenal seems unlikely and whilst Rangers rumours have been swirling for a while, a move to Ibrox could be tricky.

Jonathan Panzo may not be Rangers’ top choice amid Auston Trusty claims
We have seen two left-footed centre backs heavily linked with Rangers this summer; Trusty and Nottingham Forest’s Jonathan Panzo.
The assumption has been that Rangers may prefer to land Panzo given his ties to boss Beale.
Panzo and Beale previously worked together in the Chelsea ranks and a reunion seemed to make sense – especially after striking a similar deal for Sterling.
Yet it seems that Beale would actually prefer to land Trusty to bolster his Rangers back line.
There could be scope for Rangers to move Ben Davies on and then bring in both Trusty and Panzo to beef up Beale’s options.
Right now though, it seems that Panzo will be fallback target if Rangers can’t get the Trusty deal moving forward.
