Ex-Rangers youth and Derby County winger Malcolm Ebiowei will snub a move to Man United in favour of a switch to Crystal Palace.
That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who made the claim on Twitter following weeks of conjecture regarding the out-of-contract 18-year-old’s future.
The Italian transfer journalist believes that Ebiowei will sign a five-year deal with Patrick Viera’s side in what will be viewed as a major coup at Selhurst Park.
The move comes after weeks of links between Man United, Palace and Ebiowei, who impressed after breaking into the the Derby County team last season.
The winger made 16 appearances for the Rams last season as they suffered relegation to English League One amid financial issues and docked points.
Reports last week had suggested that both United and Palace were leading the pack for Malcolm Ebiowei, with interest also from Ligue 1.
Ex-Rangers kid Malcolm Ebiowei heading for Premier League big time
Formerly of Arsenal’s youth Academy, Malcolm Ebiowei joined the Ibrox youth academy in 2020 but within a year was back in England plying his trade for Derby County.
It’s proven to be the right move for the youngster who broke into Rooney’s cash-strapped side last season and is clearly making others stand up and take notice.
Rangers might well rue letting the youngster leave after only one season and now Ibrox fans will be thinking what might’ve been as the youngster heads towards the Premier League.
Derby County manager Wayne Rooney has previously heaped praise on the kid and believes Malcolm Ebiowei could be destined for the very top.
“His attitude is incredible, he wants to learn and he is an exciting young player,” said Rooney [MEN].
“First of all, his attitude is very good.
“He has got an enormous amount of ability, he is brave, he will take the ball, he is not afraid to take players on, to get tackled, to make mistakes. So he has got a really bright future.”
Meanwhile, Rangers have been linked with a move for a familiar Croatian face who helped down the Ibrox club last season.
