Leading journalist Alan Nixon has claimed that ex-Rangers star Josh Windass is valued at £5m by English Championship club Sheffield Wednesday.
These claims come amid reports that seven clubs are interested in signing Windass ahead of next season with Millwall already having a bid turned down [Yorkshire Live].
There were claims that this was as little as £400k in staggered payments, an amount more than 12 times that Nixon claims the Owls are expecting.
In tweeting, Nixon also claims that Birmingham City are interested in signing the polarising 27-year-old forward who enjoyed an up and down spell in Glasgow.
Outspoken and undoubtedly talented, Windass had the ability to both entertain and infuriate with many feeling the player’s application wasn’t always 100%.
Despite his hot and cold performances – and a disappointing first season in Scotland – Windass netted an impressive 18 times in season 17/18, including twelve league strikes.
The attacker also managed eight Scottish Premiership assists the same season and there was a feeling that Steven Gerrard and co could turn him into a top player for the Gers.
But ego got the better of Windass who recoiled at the club accepting a £2.5m Wigan offer for his services and left Ibrox before Gerrard even really got started.
Moving to Sheffield Wednesday in 2020, Windass was the stand-out performer in the team who got relegated from the foot of the Championship last season, netting nine goals in the division.

Fulham, West Brom, QPR, Stoke City and Preston North End are the other clubs said to be interested in the player ahead of next season.
Windass was also back in the press north of the border this week as he praised the international performance of a once rival Celtic star.
