As Rangers’ hunt for a centre-back continues, comments from Arsenal defender and USA international Auston Trusty suggest James Sands may well be giving him the lowdown on Ibrox.
The Gers have been extensively linked with a move for 24-year-old Auston Trusty during the transfer window with some conflicting reporting surrounding the player.

Having spent last season on loan at Birmingham City, his first as a first-team player in the England, the ex-Colorado Rapids star picked up the supporters’ Player of the Year at St Andrews.
But now the defender is expected to move on from Arsenal this summer, even if some reports are claiming that the Gunners’ valuation is over what Rangers are willing to pay.
The Ibrox side were then the only club specifically named in a recent interview with Auston Trusty, who is currently on USA international duty.

The centre-back claimed then that whilst his focus has been on the USMNT and family back home, he’s been chattering to his teammates about this summer’s business.
Called up alongside the centre-back for the USA’s CONCACAF Nations League Final clash with Canada – where Auston Trusty came off the bench in a 2-0 US victory – James Sands and Auston Trusty are international teammates.
But perhaps the defender is getting any and all information he needs to know on Rangers via the NYCFC captain, who returned to the MLS side after a loan stint in Glasgow over the last two seasons.
Whilst James Sands failed to impress the watching Rangers support, the defender-turned-defensive-midfielder certainly thinks very highly of himself.

Claiming Rangers just couldn’t afford his services, said to be around £5m, the defender sounded particularly ungrateful for the outstanding opportunities afforded him at Ibrox.
If Auston Trusty is chatting to USA teammates about his own future, we’d hasten a bet that Rangers might’ve came up in conversation given the extensive links as of late.
The question is, given James Sands’ rocky enough stay in Glasgow, would the NYCFC international recommend the club?
