Rangers fans have been keeping tabs on some of their former players, even though they did not live up to the billing at Ibrox.

It has been far from a stable atmosphere behind the scenes at Ibrox, and that has seen many players and managers struggle to succeed.

However, things have stabilised under the new ownership, although Derek McInnes is set to become the third permanent manager since they took over.

What would your concerns be about Derek McInnes replacing Danny Rohl?

Cedric Itten reaches agreement to join Werder Bremen

Despite being in a Fortuna Dusseldorf side that got relegated to the third tier of German football, Cedric Itten has earned himself a surprising move to Werder Bremen.

The Bundesliga side have reached an agreement to secure the services of the Switzerland international, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The 29-year-old will join Bremen on a free transfer as his deal at the Dusseldorf outfit has come to an end.

Itten, currently at the World Cup, is still to undergo a medical, and it remains to be seen when that will happen.

Werder are aware that there are other clubs keen on securing his services, so they would want to finalise the transfer before any hijack attempts.

Why Itten struggled to live up to his potential at Rangers

Itten had a number of quality attacking players in the squad to deal with, which ended up limiting his playing time.

He was often the third choice behind Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe, which resulted in him playing out wide or hybrid roles that failed to get the best out of him.

While Steven Gerrard tried to rotate his team and rest his regular starters, he himself acknowledged that it was difficult to keep all his players happy with the minutes they had been getting.

Now that Danny Rohl has left Rangers, how would you rate his time at the club?

Itten himself did not adapt quite as well as he would have wanted from the Swiss league.

The Switzerland international also admitted that it was a drastic step up in terms of physicality, and that did not suit his style of play.

Despite cutting his loan spell short in 2021, Rangers failed to get the best out of the striker, and he eventually left the club for good.
