A leading Everton insider has claimed that the Premier League side’s interest in Rangers star Nathan Patterson is legitimate with negotiations “ongoing” between the clubs.

The Bobble is an established Everton insider on Twitter and made the claim amid extensive links between the Gers full-back and the Toffees.

Nathan Patterson has been repeatedly linked with a move to Goodison Park with Everton reportedly having two bids rejected in the summer.

Some reports claimed the second of these may have reached up to £8m [Scottish Sun] with ex-Rangers boss Steven Gerrard laughing off this bid back at the end of August.

But Everton interest in the full-back appears to have been reignited ahead of the January window with reports in the Daily Mail suggesting Nathan Patterson could be subject to a substantial bid.

That report suggests any bid would need to start at £10m and while the Bobble doesn’t go into detail regarding any prospective move, the Everton insider claims a January deal has been mooted.

Not only that, but the Everton fan account claims that Nathan Patterson is “keen” on swapping Rangers for the Premier League

“Everton remain in talks with Scottish club Rangers, over the transfer for Nathan Patterson,” tweets the Bobble.

“Everton are still hopeful a deal can be agreed in the January transfer window, with the player keen on the move. Negotiations are ongoing between the two clubs.”

Nathan Patterson move to Everton may stave off interest in first-team Rangers stars

A fully-fledged Scotland international at 20, there is much debate in Rangers circles regarding Nathan Patterson and Ibrox captain James Tavernier.

Swashbuckling right-back Tav, 30, is undoubtedly the top full-back in the entirety of Scottish football but with this comes limited minutes for Patterson.

The young Gers full-back is the top Academy asset within the Gers and he has even been linked to the likes of Bayern Munich, PSG and Atletico Madrid in the past [90min].

But so far only Everton have made their interest in Nathan Patterson concrete with an official transfer bid and the club seem to be making no secret of their interest in the Rangers star.

From a Rangers point of view, whilst losing a player with the talent of Nathan Patterson would be a huge blow, it would certainly strengthen the club’s position with more senior stars.

If Rangers can rake in a substantial amount for the club’s leading talent, then if bids land for the likes of Joe Aribo or Ryan Kent, then the club can afford to be more pragmatic.

Speaking of January transfer business, Rangers have been linked with a loan raid on a former Celtic boss’ Championship winning side.
