Rangers star Ryan Kent claims he has unfinished business at Ibrox despite the fact Steven Gerrard has headed south to the Premier League.

Ex-Liverpool winger Kent, 25, was signed to Rangers by Gerrard and his backroom team and there has been some conjecture surrounding Ryan’s future amid the coaching staff’s move to Aston Villa.

However, speaking ahead of Rangers’ eventual 1-0 win over Hibs, the winger claims there is still plenty to be achieved in Glasgow.

Not only that, but it was clear from Kent that the opportunity to work under the new coaching structure and Giovanni van Bronckhorst is also a big one.

Even if the winger also paid tribute to Steven Gerrard and co.

“The immediate future is me playing for Rangers,” said Kent [Sky Sports].

“I have given my best and I want to be more successful at the football club. I feel as if I have a lot to show, and a lot to win as well. My concentration is here.

“I think for Steven and the other coaches this was like a family in a way.

“He took over a team that was not doing so great, and brought success back to the club.

“We all bought into his philosophies and everything that he brought to the club, so it was sad to see him go.

Rangers star Ryan Kent praises Steven Gerrard amid Premier League links

“He wishes us all very well, and I think we all still have a great relationship with him wherever he is.

“I have the upmost respect for Steven and Michael Beale who i’ve know for a very long time.

“They brought me to this football club and I’m very grateful for that. I’ve learned so much from him.

“There is a new manager in charge now and we all need to work with him and give him our best, and all learn from our best.

“To make 55 happen was special. We thought this was the dream, this will carry on as long as we are all here, but these things happen in football and I wish him all the best for the future.”

The comments come after Ryan Kent was linked to – surprise, surprise – Aston Villa.

The winger was one of the talismanic presences in Rangers’ side under Steven Gerrard and according to the Daily Mail the Scouser is considering a January move.

With 18 months left on his current deal, anything less than £15m will surely be laughed out of Ibrox.

But whilst Rangers fans would love to keep hold of Ryan Kent, could the winger fill a £100m Villa Park void from the summer?
