End of the road for Rangers star as clear out continues

Scott Wright might not be going anywhere, however, Glen Kamara and Fashion Sakala both seem close to departing Rangers.

The Zambian international, in particular, has seen recent speculation increase with Michael Beale suggesting that a move could be imminent.

Fashion Sakala arrived on a free transfer and has contributed to Rangers but Michael Beale’s new signings suggest that his future will be elsewhere as Dean Jones explains to GiveMeSport.

The forward line needed a serious upgrade this summer and it is easy to see why Michael Beale was so excited ahead of this transfer window.

After rejecting a previous offer, Sakala now looks as though he has made his mind up.

With new additions come casualties though and Fashion Sakala’s departure makes a lot sense both on and off the pitch.

The fee, said to be in the region of £3m, could be higher given modern valuations and Sakala’s output but, as Jones says, the Gers gaffer has obviously deemed him surplus to requirements:

“It is looking a bit precarious for Sakala at the moment, and I think it’s a bit of a shame because I feel there could still have been a role for him in this squad.

“We will have to see how this plays out in real life as a lot of the fuel to this rumour has been provided through social media, and that is not always a great place to get a true reading on a situation.

“But if Beale has decided this is the end of the road for him, which sounds the case, then I think it will be best they help him find a new club quickly and that everyone can move on from that stance.”

The issue that Rangers have with regards to fees is that clubs will know that we are trying to move players on.

Beale won’t want players hanging around who aren’t in his plans and he will know that the money he brings in could be reinvested.

Fashion Sakala is also at the optimal point in his Rangers contract with two years left, failing to sell him this summer would only see his value depreciate and a year’s salary having to be paid.

It is how a model should work, buy low, develop and sell at a profit.
