Rangers have already lost manager Steven Gerrard to the Premier League and as his contract runs down, the club’s vice-captain Connor Goldson may not be too far behind.
The Gers face a major dilemma regarding the 28-year-old centre-back who was amongst the first and most influential signings of Gerrard’s tenure.

But after the Liverpool legend left Ibrox it has thrown major up major doubts regarding Connor’s future with the centre-back yet to sign a new contract.
Goldson’s current deal expires in the summer and Rangers will either need to cash in this January or risk losing the player for free in the summer.
Aston Villa and a reunion with Steven Gerrard might seem an obvious link but whatever the case, the fact the man who brought Connor to Ibrox has now left will have plenty doubting his Rangers future.
But with the Gers reportedly in the market for Dutch ex-Rangers star Giovanni van Bronckhorst, could a pre-contract deal of their own help Rangers plug the gap any Goldson exit would create?
Rangers-linked Dutch defender can help solve Connor Goldson contract dilemma
Rangers were extensively linked to Vitesse Arnhem centre-back Danilho Doekhi in the summer and the Eredivisie side’s captain is also running down his contract in the Netherlands.
At 23, the former Holland U21 star is an ex-Ajax youth product, a low-cost investment and a solid option to replace Connor.
The fact Rangers’ next potential manager is a Dutchman could well help the Ibrox side convince Doekhi his future is in Glasgow.
Rangers have been linked extensively to the defender by the likes of Football Insider and the Telegraph alongside sides like Norwich City and Newcastle United.
The defender suggested he was open to a move to Ibrox earlier in the year as he discussed his future with Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem and was quizzed on the Rangers interest.

“I can’t do anything with it now,” he responded when asked about the reported interest from the Light Blues [Daily Record].
“All my business runs through my manager, but if something is serious, I will seriously think about it.”
Perhaps it’s something both Danilho Doekhi and Rangers will be seriously thinking about more if Giovanni van Bronckhorst comes in through the door and Connor Goldson fails to sign a new deal.
Goldson isn’t the only player who could leave Ibrox following the exit of Steven Gerrard, at least according to some reports.
