Rangers interest in Jefte wasn’t even reported until it was announced that the club had reached an agreement with the player and his parent club.
It looked as though Gers boss Philippe Clement had landed the left-back that would allow us to cash in on Ridvan Yilmaz only for APOEL to pull the plug.
There has since been yet another twist though and one that could see Rangers manage to bring Jefte to Ibrox during this transfer window.

Fluminense might have done Clement a favour with the news that they have loaned another youngster to the Cypriots.
Left-sided defender Cipriano has made the move to Europe following his teammate Jefte in a deal that could have a knock-on effect for Rangers.
There isn’t much time left in the transfer window for clubs to get reinforcements but the pieces are already in place for this one.
Rangers, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, have agreed terms with Jefte so, all that would be needed is to finalise a fee with APOEL to cut the loan deal short.
This would then give Nils Koppen more room for maneuver when it comes to letting Ridvan Yilmaz go.
The transfer window in Turkey still has over a week to go so, if Jefte was already at Ibrox, we would hold all the cards.
It’s a good position to be in because there is no desperate need for a left-back although it would be good to get the 20-year old in now before he attracts any more attention and his price tag goes up, regardless of any verbal agreement.
It’s worth a phone call but we shouldn’t be distracted from working on bringing in a striker if there is any possibility of getting one in before 11:30pm.
Either way, the last hours could be very interesting for Rangers fans, with or without the arrival of Jefte.
