“There is a real chance” – Rangers could yet seal deadline day striker deal

The clock is ticking on Rangers and Philippe Clement if they are to bring in one last piece of the jigsaw during this transfer window.

With no Danilo, Kemar Roofe or Abdallah Sima likely to be seen in a Gers squad for some time, there is a distinct lack of another number nine to support Cyriel Dessers.

Rangers have been given some encouragement though with the news that manager Philippe Clement is trying to bring in another hitman according to The 4th Official.

Rangers could yet give Philippe Clement the striker he needs

It’s all gone quiet across at Tynecastle after they demanded that Lawrence Shankland put pen to paper on a new contract.

With no bids or interest reported, it looks likely that the Hearts skipper will be staying in Edinburgh, for now.

Writing on their Patreon site, the usually reliable T4O has claimed that Rangers might yet be able to give Philippe Clement the extra fire power that he needs:

“Rangers are looking for a striker and despite the pessimism, I think there is a real chance that one is landed before the transfer window ends.”

With not even the slightest sniff of a name, the odds are lengthening by the hour but Nils Koppen and his recruitment team have kept their cards close to their chest throughout the window.

Notifications are on, social media is being refreshed as Rangers fans cling to the hope that a more natural number nine is brought in to compete with Dessers.

Fabio Silva has looked sharp in his cameo appearances so far, but he could really do with a goal or two as soon as possible.

Experimenting with the on-loan Wolves forward in a wide position would be welcomed too but Clement has yet to play him anywhere other than in rotation with Dessers.

“Pessimism” is exactly the right word.

But, with low expectations, comes greater excitement – if the increasingly unlikely happens and a shiny new striker is seen at Ibrox as the dust settles on an eventful transfer window.
