David Weir does Rangers transfer favour as Romano reveals winger move

Rangers reported move for Mohamed Diomande is one that is sure to excite fans but they would be a lot happier if a winger like Million Manhoef was also close to coming in the door.

The Netherlands Under-21 winger is said to be a target of Gers boss Philippe Clement and will be well known to Nils Koppen as the pair look to improve the squad and bring a more exciting and dynamic style of football to Ibrox.

The good news is, Rangers might have taken a step closer to persuading Vitesse Arnhem to part with Million Manhoef, and David Weir could once again be doing his old club a favour.

Rangers could have Million Manhoef breakthrough

Brighton’s director of football was pivotal in the deal that saw Abdallah Sima join in the summer and he will, obviously, play a part in any potential permanent move – something the player’s agent has said is a distinct possibility.

After offering Stephen Alzate to Rangers, it looks as if Weir has inadvertently done Clement a favour this time after Fabrizio Romano revealed that the Seagulls winger, Adrian Mazilu is heading to the Eredivisie.

Coincidentally, Mazilu plays in Rangers-linked Million Manhoef’s preferred right-wing position, although the 22-year old has been covering at full-back this season too.

A fee of £2.5m has been reported for the flying machine and, with almost no depth in the position, it will be a transfer that Clement and Koppen will be keen to get done in the next week.

Ross McCausland has emerged as a regular starter from nowhere and Rabbi Matondo continues to show flashes of what he can do but needs to start producing better numbers, thankfully, both are young enough that they can still develop their weaknesses.

Should they both be considered as first choice though? If Rangers want to win the league, they need better and Million Manhoef could be another piece in the jigsaw with Weir helping, once again, to put the pieces together
