Rangers have begun their process of finding a replacement for James Tavernier, who is set to leave at the end of June.

After 11 years at Ibrox, the Englishman has decided that it is time for a new challenge and is now considering his options.

Saudi Arabia has been mooted as a potential destination, while Tottenham have also shown interest in Tavernier.

Hampus Skoglund is the perfect James Tavernier replacement

Hampus Skoglund is on Rangers’ four-man shortlist to replace Tavernier in the summer transfer window.

Data presented by Rangers Journal shows why the Hammarby right-back is the perfect player for the Light Blues to sign.

Compared to all right-backs in the Allsvenskan, he is in the 100th percentile for passes completed per 90 minutes, defensive duels won per 90 minutes, and percentage of accurate long passes.

This shows that not only is he comfortable with the ball at his feet, but he is also exceptional defensively, something that Rohl would want from a right-back.

He has chosen Dujon Sterling whenever he’s wanted more defensive stability and picked Tavernier when he needs someone with more of an attacking output.

The stats reveal that Skoglund is good at dribbling, making progressive runs and also in providing assists, making him ideal for Rangers.

How much will Rangers have to pay for Skoglund?

While Hammarby have not specified how much they are looking for, there is a feeling that the 22-year-old could be available at a good price for Rangers.

The Swedish club will gauge the market and see how many sides are showing a legitimate interest, and then demand a fee.

However, a fee slightly north of £2m should be good enough to convince them to sell and would also not make a major dent in the Gers’ transfer budget.

He is someone who could hit the ground running and, within a few weeks, become the undisputed first choice for the Ibrox outfit.

While it will take him some time to adapt, there is no reason why he cannot have the same kind of impact as Tuur Rommens did, who has been undroppable right since he arrived.
