Rangers have been linked with a summer move for Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Pierce Charles.

Danny Rohl was backed with four new signings in January, and is expected to be allowed to sign even more players ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Andrew Cavenagh has been impressed with Rohl, and so have the rest of his consortium, with money available to strengthen the squad.

Danny Rohl wants Pierce Charles reunion at Ibrox

According to Sportsboom, Rohl is keen on a reunion with Charles at Ibrox, having worked with him at Sheffield Wednesday.

As the 20-year-old’s contract at Hillsborough runs out at the end of next season, the Gers can sign him on a cut-price deal.

Charles has impressed not just in the English Championship but also on the international stage, representing Northern Ireland.

Given Wednesday’s financial situation, Rangers are optimistic that they can sign him and give the manager what he wants this summer.

Rohl also believes that he can convince the 20-year-old to move to Ibrox in the coming months.

However, the Light Blues are not the only side keen on securing his services.

Will Liam Kelly leave if Charles joins Rangers?

Liam Kelly would likely want to leave if Charles is signed.

Given the Northern Ireland international’s relationship with Rohl, the German would fancy him over Kelly.

This would see the 30-year-old likely asking for a move away as he settled for being the second choice as deputy to Jack Butland, but may not be too willing to be the third choice.

At 30, he is arguably in the prime of his goalkeeping career and may fancy a move to another Scottish Premiership side or even consider his options south of the border.

His contract at Ibrox runs out at the end of the season and looking at reports of the club pursuing another keeper are not going to tempt him to sign an extension.

There could be discussions between him and Rohl in the coming weeks to gauge what the future holds.
