Rewind to a few months ago and there was some talk that Rangers had agreed a fee to bring Brazilian born midfielder Gustavo Hamer to the club.

The Coventry star – who was previously a Dutch youth international – is a key player for the Championship side and has there has been some dispute in the past regarding links to the Gers.

However, back in May a leading EFL Twitter account with 15k followers claimed the Gers had met a £4m valuation for the ex-PEC Zwolle player.

Back then, Rangers fans took this reported interest with the 24-year-old with a pinch of salt.

But as explained it wasn’t the first time Hamer was linked, with reports from the Press Association eventually being rubbished by Ibrox insiders.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

Back in January, Heart & Hand claimed that Rangers were “not interested” in the player via their Daily Update [14/01/21].

Despite those claims down south, nothing appears to have materialised for the box-to-box Brazilian who has started the season on fine form for Coventry City.

The midfielder has played every minute of the Championship campaign so far for the Sky Blues and is catching the eye of the Coventry fans who have a new song for the player:

If the Brazilian midfielder keeps his form up, perhaps it won’t just be Rangers being linked to the player who is now in his second season at the Ricoh Arena.

Speaking of English Championship midfielders, Rangers’ interest in a more attacking player appears to have been confirmed with a reputable transfer source.
