Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Rangers have completed the signing of Jack Butland on a free transfer.
The reliable Italian journalist had previously updated supporters to reveal that a deal involving the England international and Rangers was edging closer.
Now – however – it seems like everything aside from the official club announcement has been sorted as Jack Butland arrives at Rangers.
Rangers sign Jack Butland
Well, the 30-year-old has now passed his medical in Glasgow, and has also agreed a contract with Rangers.
Romano does not state how many years Butland has signed up to at Ibrox, although there is no denying that this is a fantastic signing by Michael Beale.
It has been a deal months in the making, with Giovanni van Bronckhorst also attempting to sign the Bristol-born glovesman back in 2022 before failing to strike an agreement with Crystal Palace.
Now – after the south Londoners chose not to extend Butland’s contract – Beale has been able to bring the experienced shot-stopper to Ibrox for free.
It represents a surprise turnaround for Rangers.
The Daily Mail claimed that Beale was searching for alternative options to replace Allan McGregor as Butland’s wage demands were too high.
However, the Englishman agreed to take a pay cut after learning just how keen Beale was to have him at Rangers, putting the deal back on track.
Now, all that remains is an official announcement from Rangers.

Butland is set to join Dujon Sterling and Kieran Dowell at Ibrox, with Beale wasting no time whatsoever in making changes to his squad just days into June.
All three represent wise investments, and hopefully, they can settle down quickly as we look to wrestle the Scottish Premiership title back from Celtic next season.
Be sure to keep an eye on the official clubs feeds, as there should soon be an announcement confirming Butland’s arrival.
