Rangers have been linked with a move for Hearts midfielder Cammy Devlin now that Derek McInnes has moved to Ibrox.

McInnes replaced Danny Rohl at the helm and will be keen on adding to the Gers’ ranks in the coming weeks.

With players returning for pre-season imminently, the 54-year-old would have an idea about who he would want to keep and for whom the club can start listening to offers.

Real Salt Lake leading the race for Cammy Devlin

While there are a host of clubs keen on signing Devlin, MLS outfit Real Salt Lake are leading the chase for him, according to the Daily Record.

The likes of Chicago Fire and Seattle Sounders are also in the race to sign the 28-year-old ahead of their rivals in the United States.

At the same time, his staying put at Tynecastle also cannot be ruled out, with all options on the table.

He is currently in talks with Hearts over a contract extension, but he is gauging his options as this is a decisive transfer window in his career.

Salt Lake have currently provided him with the best financial offer, and it remains to be seen if any other club can match that.

Rangers remain interested in Devlin, but they are unlikely to break their wage structure for him, as things stand.

Gordon Strachan believes Hearts fans will be worried about losing Devlin to Rangers

Gordon Strachan believes that Hearts fans will be gutted to see Devlin leaving, especially for Rangers.

In his view, the 28-year-old has been vital for them in recent years, and he would be hard to replace.

He has stated that if he were a Hearts fan, the midfielder’s future is something that he would worry about.

How many points can Rangers get from their first five league games?

Derek McInnes will be aiming to win the title!

He said: “Who will Hearts fans be worried about losing to Rangers? Cammy Devlin.

“They wouldn’t want Devlin to go, he’s been marvellous for them.

“He has to decide if he wants to continue at that level with Hearts or test himself somewhere else.

“It can be a problem for Hearts if players go to the World Cup and hear about how their team-mates are getting on at other clubs. Devlin would be the one I’d worry about.”
