Celtic confusion attached to reported Rangers Pro League interest

A journalist confuses Celtic with Rangers as he talks about early window links between the Ibrox club Charleroi midfielder Adem Zorgane.

According to reports coming out of Belgium, the Gers were interested in signing the 22-year-old creative midfielder earlier in the window but never met the Belgian Pro League club’s valuation for the player.

But there was some initially some confusion regarding the links after journalist Nabil Djelit was forced to correct himself after actually mentioning Old Firm rivals Celtic.

On a post on social media, Djelit had claimed that it was the Parkhead side and not actually Rangers who were interested.

Speaking to his 410k Twitter followers, Djellit initially said it was Celtic and Ligue 1 Toulouse who has made an approach for Adem Zorgane and not Rangers.

“Charleroi have been approached by Toulouse and Celtic for Zorgane,” tweeted Djellit.

“But offers deemed insufficient. The midfielder has extended until 2027.

“The Belgian club, whose relations are good with Paradou, is in advanced contact to recover Benbouali.”

Later the journalist would correct himself and claim that it was in fact Rangers and not Old Firm rivals Celtic who’d made an approach for Charleroi star Adem Zorgane.

But whilst there has been some confusion between Rangers and Celtic in this apparent Adem Zorgane hunt, the links symbolise the ambitiousness of Rangers’ transfer window to date.

The Ibrox club are on the hunt for players who can add quality to the squad and the 22-year-old Algerian is the latest in a long line of players to be linked to the club.

Rangers were also said to have missed out on a former French U21 international this summer as attention reportedly turns elsewhere.

Here’s the latest regarding interest in a 20-year-old international who is currently still plying his trade in the Bundesliga.
