Rangers are reportedly interested in signing Bristol City ace Cameron Pring with more and more left backs being linked.
Fabio Silva joined Rangers on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier his month and we have yet to see the Gers strike any more incoming deals.
There is one position which keeps popping up though – left back.
Borna Barisic is now inside the final six months of his contract and Ridvan Yilmaz continues to be the subject of interest from elsewhere.
Rangers may need to sign at least one new left back in 2024 and Bristol City star Cameron Pring is on the radar according to reports over the weekend…
Cameron Pring, the story so far
Pring hails from Cheltenham and started his career in the Cheltenham Town ranks before leaving his hometown club for Bristol City in 2016.
Pring spent the next five years out on loan, joining non-league sides Guernsey, Merthyr Town, Aldershot Town and Hereford.
Newport County came calling in 2018 before a return to Cheltenham in 2019, followed by spells with Walsall and Portsmouth.
All of that experience away from Bristol City primed him to shine at Ashton Gate and when his debut finally came in 2021, Pring seized the opportunity with both hands.
Now with nearly 100 first-team appearances under his belt, Pring has become one of the top left backs in the Championship and interest is mounting.

“Maybe because of his career here so far, he’s been farmed out a number of times on loan, he’s had to work really hard to get back into the system here, but I’m really glad we’ve got him. He’s a good athlete, a really good athlete, and his pace and power is a huge asset of his. I’m pleased that he’s able to hold down a place,” – Former Bristol City boss Nigel Pearson.
“He can play left midfield, left wing-back or left-back. He’s very quick when he opens up, he’s strong and has got a good left foot, so he’ll give us that balance on the left which I think we need,” – Former Newport County boss Michael Flynn.

Cameron Pring to Rangers analysis
Pring has been on a long road to regular Championship action but he has made the most of his chance.
Pring has bagged nine assists and two goals in his 98 Bristol City appearances, showing his ability to make an impact in the final third.
Add in his height at 6ft 1in tall and his turn of pace and you start to see how Pring can be a complete left back moving forward.
This is certainly the kind of left back we would like to see in action for Rangers, but convincing Bristol City to sell won’t be easy.
With more than two years left on his contract, Pring won’t come cheap and a January deal may be a little expensive.
We would like to see Rangers keep tabs on Pring in the hope of a deal, but other targets will be needed with the Robins likely to stand firm.
